Elisabeth (Lisa) Dickinson
Manager, Professional Learning & Member Engagement
Educational Issues Department AFT
Lisa Dickinson oversees the professional learning work at the American Federation of Teachers. She works with a team to ensure that ongoing, job-embedded, peer led professional development is an essential element of comprehensive or “systemic” reform in education. This school improvement strategy engages educators through the development of leadership roles and provides opportunities for building capacity and sustainability. The team works to elevate educator voice to further members’ aspirations for professional growth and empowerment at the workplace.
Improving teaching and learning for students, developing and maintaining collaborative relationships, remaining attentive to the needs of educators and providing the supports they require to be successful are of key importance to Lisa.
Prior to coming to AFT, Lisa spent 25 working for Toledo Public Schools and a member of The Toledo Federation of Teachers.
