Join Richard Long, Executive Director of Learning First Alliance and Share My Lesson for a lesson on six key elements that must be integrated at the building and district level for schools to excel at teaching and learning.
Schools should not be defined by test scores, and the education community sees first-hand the work needed for schools to truly succeed. Using years of research and best practices, the members of the Learning First Alliance (LFA) found six key elements that must be integrated at the building and district level for schools to excel at teaching and learning.
The session will discuss the elements, how they were determined and how teachers and others can use these elements to build excellence in school. LFA is comprised of 12 major national organizations that represent teachers, principals, parents, superintendents, specialists, teacher educators, counselors and others who are committed to working together to help schools succeed. The education profession knows what is needed--now we must lead by example.
As part of this session, we will also share resources for celebrating a nation-wide, event: Public Schools Week from March 25 - 29. Attendees can get ideas for hosting school events, writing op-eds, spreading the word via social media and contacting members of Congress on a resolution supporting Public Education Week (bipartisan). Be #PublicSchoolProud.
