This session will share the latest information about the growth in the number of school resource officers in schools; the impact of SROs in schools on arrest rates/offenses; the racial disparities in school arrests/referrals; the arrests of young children; the evidence regarding whether police in schools prevent or minimize school shootings and/or other violence; other direct impacts of police in schools; fiscal choices in funding police in schools, rather than counselors, social workers, and many approaches shown to be effective in improving behavior and school climate; and decisions that school districts around the country have made since June 1 regarding police in schools.
