About This Webinar

Tribal Nations pre-date the U.S. Constitution and increasingly state standards are specifically recognizing the importance of teaching about the historic and contemporary contributions of tribal nations. And so, it is important to understand the role of tribal sovereignty in the United States and our Constitution. Join the Albert Shanker Institute and Share My Lesson for an engaging session with experts on tribal sovereignty.

This will be my 29th year in St. Paul Public Schools. I am Ojibwe and an enrolled member of Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in Baraga, Michigan. As Learning Lead my main role is to support teachers to foster student achievement. I will be supporting teachers through coaching, professional development, modeling instruction, and facilitating Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

Jerad Koepp
2022 Washington State Teacher of the Year

Jerad Koepp, Wukchumni, is the Native Student Program Specialist for North Thurston Public Schools, the 2022 Washington State teacher of the year, and the first Native American educator to earn the distinction in our state. He is a leader in Native education, policy, and government to government relationships. As an educator, trainer, presenter, consultant, and advocate, Jerad also created and supports his district’s dual-credited high school Native Studies program.

Professional Credit

Available for 1.5-hour of PD credit. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of your session that you can submit for your school's or district's approval.

Share My Lesson is now a New York State Education Department-approved provider for Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) requirements and an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approved Professional Development provider.
