About This Webinar

Join Julia Thompson and Share My Lesson for a webinar on successful classroom leadership.

Novice teachers are often advised not to “smile until Thanksgiving.” Although this advice is well-intentioned, no teacher should be so strict that our students fear us. Neither should we be so permissive that disruptive chaos takes over the room. The key to successful classroom leadership lies in developing the balanced qualities of those teachers who are regarded as warm demanders. As defined by the Executive Director of the Center for Urban Educational Excellence at Florida International University, Lisa Delpit, “Warm demanders expect a great deal of their students, convince them of their own brilliance, and help them to reach their potential in a disciplined and structured environment.” This webinar will explore the various ways that teachers can learn to recognize their own strengths as warm demanders and develop the skills that will allow them to successfully lead their classrooms. It is geared to help teachers develop positive connections with their students while creating a structured, productive learning environment where students can achieve both academic and behavioral success.
