About This Lesson
Students will distinguish between calcifying and non-calcifying marine organisms and explain why organisms that build shells or skeletal structures from calcium carbonate may be especially vulnerable to ocean acidification. Students will use observations, classification, and discussion to connect changes in seawater chemistry with potential impacts on marine organisms.
