About This Lesson
This activity allows for two large student groups to work together and discuss how they would adapt to a crisis situation. Divide your classroom in half, telling the students that an earthquake has taken place creating two isolated populations. Students will come up with a list of adaptations they will need to make to survive in their new environment. They will need to consider resources, nutrients, climate, and geographical differences. Afterward, you can discuss as a group which traits might appear and disappear over time in the two new populations.
