DRIVING QUESTION: How do bacteria act in the real world, and what factors impact their behavior?
This three-part investigation explores biofilms (part 1), diffusion and the diffusion constant (part 2), and diffusion of antimicrobials (part 3). An extension is provided to investigate how we can use the diffusion constant to find molecular weight (part 3 extension). Included for each subunit: 5E lesson plans with detailed teacher instructions, slides, and handouts. Additional slides are also included on bio-prospecting.
