About This Lesson
This activity was designed to help students classify information to comprehend text. Students write words or phrases that describe and/or relate to a category of a topic based on an expository text. Common Core State Standards addressed: RI.K.2 - With prompting and support, identify the main topic and retell key details of a text. RI.K.10 - Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding. RI.1.2 - Identify the main topic and retell key details of a text. RI.1.10 - With prompting and support, read informational texts appropriately complex for grade 1.
