About This Lesson
Resource: Bay Watch
Description
Media (20 min): Take a virtual reality tour of Malpeque Bay, PEI, in this interactive simulation. Change how much fertilizer is used on the agricultural farm, then dive into the Bay to find out how those changes affect the habitat. See how human activities like oyster farming and nutrient pollution impact the health of the eelgrass and the species that call eelgrass beds home. Collect data in the simulation that you can download and graph using a spreadsheet program.
- See the media: Ocean School makes media/activity combinations. Each piece of media is linked to an activity. Activity (90 mins): Analyze your data findings- Students are given the data they have collected during the interactive and are led through a variety of data analysis tasks which explore the relationships between nutrients and other variables in the environment.
