About This Lesson
The fitness unit includes 11 lesson plans that span the course of about 5-6 weeks. The unit is intended for high school students.
The goals of the fitness unit include the following: students will have made progress towards mastery in the areas of self-reflection, goal-setting, creating and executing a plan, revising goals, refining a plan, understanding how to apply training principles to the different components of health-related fitness, and understanding the value of physical fitness.
The unit includes one main project which is the creation of goals and a training plan that will be executed throughout the unit and refined at the end of the unit. The refined plan and the students’ justification of the changes made to the plan are the final products of the unit. The unit also includes a side project where students form groups with others in the class who share the same interest in fitness. Each group will plan a brief teaching segment related to their chosen area of fitness and present the segment to the class.
Four files are included:

-Supporting Materials: Exit tickets, handouts, projector displays (lesson objectives, discussion prompts, modeled plans etc.), and an end-of-unit rubric
