About This Lesson

Introduction: Beginning to address the epidemic of gun violence in the US may seem daunting. However, breaking down the problem into its components and tackling them one-by-one is a solid strategy for creating a safer country and developing smart gun violence prevention policies. This lesson engages students to think critically about the issue of gun violence and what could be done to tackle suicides, unintentional shootings, homicides, and shootings that take place in our public places like schools, churches, and malls.

Objective: The materials included in this lesson lays out one strategy for curbing gun violence in the United States. Students will examine and discuss the provided legislative solutions and then create their plan to dramatically reduce the number of Americans killed or injured by guns each year.
