About This Lesson

This is very similar to the Meeting of the Estates General Activity I've posted. Students split up into the 3 groups in Pre-Revolutionary Haiti (Saint Domingue) - the whites, free persons of color, and the black slaves. Each group has to create their ideal Haitian Constitution. Then, they get together and debate it using the Notes on the Haitian Constitution Debate Sheet. Finally, they compare what they voted on/created to the actual Haitian Constitution of 1801.

Tied up everything nicely!
Was a simple lesson that got the students to make the connections I needed and I was able to create an independent assignment based on this to further their understanding. Thanks for the help!
