About This Lesson

"Happy Birthday, Dad"  -     from Friday 4 May 2018 by P PGammarano, Sr.; M.A., JD

              a song lyric in time for annual Veteran's Day: To Honor ALL WW2 Veterans

         Happy Birthday, Dad !

         Your looking down

         with whatever I do,

         and there’s never a frown.

         I try even now, after you’re gone,

         to make you proud, not being a clown.

Seems like not too long ago

we threw a ball together;

never chased it, you know.

You’d pitch it fast, you’d pitch it slow,

so I’d play well and lucky-happy to go.

In life I see now so much wisdoms you saw.

Never realizing back then, when we lost our ma,

that everything you did, you did it for us.

Not complaining to us; not making a fuss.

        Happy  Birthday Dad !

         Your looking down

         with whatever I do,

         and there’s never a frown.

         I try even now, after you’re gone,

         to make you proud, not being a clown.

Being older now, it’s easy to see more;

never knowing how much of life’s left in store.

But trying one’s best, during each special day.

No such thing as not special; you’d say:

Be thankful, make the best, be among the best,

and you’ll be happy not to “just pass” each test.

        Happy  Birthday Dad !

         Your looking down

         with whatever I do,

         and there’s never a frown.

         I try even now, after you’re gone,

         to make you proud, not being a clown.

Your wisdom is spread among my student folk;

your good messages survive among many a bad joke.

But they tend to hear these, loud and clear,

and approach life with confidence, and much less fear;

that bravery you showed on War’s Normandie Beach,

to help keep us free, and now I teach.

Happy Birthday, Dad forever in reach !
