About This Lesson

This worksheet begins by having students rephrase Article 1, Section 7, Clauses 1 and 2 from the Constitution (about how a Bill becomes a law). Then, while the teacher shows the "I'm Just a Bill" video to students, they write down any questions they have about the process. The worksheet continues to show a more detailed version of the process, including elements that were missing from the video (committee hearings, committee mark-up, floor action, conference committees, and lobbying). Finally, students have to add their own verses to the song that incorporate all the missing elements of the process.
