About This Lesson
This handout takes students through the meeting of the Estates General to the National Assembly to the Reign of Terror, and the rise of Napoleon. The major question throughout is how revolutionary was each stage of the French Revolution? Students are given a diagram of the Estates System in France, excerpts from the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Napoleonic Code, as well as a primary source excerpt on the Reign of Terror.
