About This Lesson
This is a fun way to get students introduced to the time period of the novella Of Mice and Men. Attached are PPTs with facts about the Great Depression, Dust Bowl and Steinbeck. Additionally attached is a handout and images for a gallery walk. Students walk around the room looking at pictures from the time period and make some notes about them regarding details, emotional reflections, and questions. They should complete the gallery walk first, and then the ppts can be used to fill in the details about the time period and the pictures they looked at.
Well organized activity, good for cross curriculum unit with history department.
