About This Lesson

This lesson introduces ratios as a way to compare two or more quantities. Students learn to identify part-to-part and part-to-whole ratios, write a ratio three ways (a:b, a to b, a/b), recognize equivalent ratios, build ratio tables, and plot ratio pairs on a coordinate plane, using contexts such as zoo animals, a parking lot, and a fruit basket. The lesson plan includes objectives, prerequisite skills, key vocabulary with definition cards, three warm-up activities, six worked examples, a review with four more examples and a video, a 10-question quiz, and an answer key. Aligned to CCSS 6.RP.A.1 and 6.RP.A.3a. Free from Media4Math; no login required.
