Video excerpts give the viewer background on some of the dances, music & values of the Aboriginal culture that inspired Stamping Ground, choreographed by Jiri Kylián. Lessons: techniques to use in researching & observing cultural dance, prompts that can guide & engage students in movement improvisations, and descriptions of animals of the Outback that will inform & inspire movement studies. Lessons also include experiences in mirroring, movement conversations, animal interpretations & organizing creation myths for dance interpretations.
