About This Lesson

Students will relate the concept of bullying in their own lives; identify significant literary elements (including metaphor, symbolism, foreshadowing, irony) in a poem and use those elements to help create original poetic devices to interpret the work; produce an original poem focused on the concepts of indifference, courage, and perseverance; collect data, facts, and ideas on Ka Hsaw Wa and corporate responsibility; and more. Aligned with Common Core Learning Standards: RI.6.1 , RI.7.1, RI.8.1, W.6.4 , W.7.4, W.8.4, SL.6.1, SL.7.1 , SL.8.1, L.6.4, L.7.4, L.8.4
