The resource provides some background and rationale for why some in the education and social justice fields are moving from “safe” to “brave” classroom environments in developing group guidelines for respect. While the typical group agreements work for some, they don’t always help everyone feel safe, respected or included. Moving from framing classroom guidelines around safety to bravery will help. The resource includes a quick classroom strategy for developing brave classroom guidelines and a list of possible guidelines.
