This semester I have heavily stressed online discussion since many college classes require it. You can use Blackboard, Edmodo, or a number of other sites and services. This includes prompts and, on a few, sample posts. I have also included a rubric to grade them and the subsequent replies. Aligned to Common Core State Standards: W.9-10.1 , W.9-10.4, SL.9-10.1

Standards

Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.
Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grades 9–10 topics, texts, and issues, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively.
