"America's Songwriter" and music educator Hank Fellows has created an exciting, child-friendly Patriotic Video for Classrooms that explores the following themes: The Founding Fathers, our Veterans, the Early 20th Century Immigrant Experience, and America's dramatic recovery from the 9/11 attacks.
Hank's nationally-acclaimed patriotic song "One Heart, One Voice" serves as the soundtrack for this dynamic, high-resolution Patriotic Video. The lyric sheet for "One Heart, One Voice", as well as a "Teacher's Guide and Lesson Plan" for this Patriotic Video are also included on this web page. For choral and music teachers, the music lead sheet for this song, and an instrumental accompaniment track, are also available in Hank's "Share My Lesson" resources elsewhere on this website.
The "Teacher's Guide and Lesson Plan" gives detailed guidance in discussing the four themes contained in this Patriotic Video, and introduces exercises to reinforce these themes with your students.
Teachers are also encouraged to use this Patriotic Video and the lyric sheet for "One Heart, One Voice" as a cross-curricular lesson in poetry. Have your students follow the lyric sheet as the Patriotic Video is played, and then analyze the song's lyrics as poetry. Each student may then create an additional verse to the song, thereby experiencing the joy of writing poetry!
