About This Lesson
Professional golfer Mike Miller's drive is analyzed and used to explain the physics concepts of collisions and compressions.
In this lesson students will do the following: investigate collisions, research coefficient of restitution (COR) in sports, discuss the ramifications of the use of limitations on sporting equipment manufacturing, draw diagrams of golf equipment tests that measure COR, investigate the COR of a variety of sporting materials and surfaces, and design a sport ball based on their research of COR.
"Science of Golf" is produced in partnership with the United States Golf Association and Chevron.
