About This Lesson

Each player has a game card each. Players take it in turns to throw the dice. When the shape on the dice matches up with one on their game card; they cover that shape with a counter. The winner is the first person to cover up all of their shapes. Aligned with Common Core State Standards: 1.G.1, Geometry, Reason with shapes and their attributes.

Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.

A very useful resource for solidifying and consolidating knowledge on 2d shape. The children enjoy playing this game and share a lot of the vocabulary too as they grow in confidence.
