About This Lesson
Just in time for the presidential election and Constitution Day, this lesson on the role of the president examines sources of presidential power and ways that checks and balances limit presidential power. Students explain the president's constitutional responsibilities, identify checks on the president's power, and defend positions involving the exercise of presidential power. Visit the Center for Civic Education at www.civiced.org for many more free resources for teachers of grades K-12, including additional Constitution Day lesson plans. PRE_LP
