Anxiety is increasingly common among school-age children, and in many cases, schools nurses are at the forefront. Golda Ginsburg, PhD and her colleagues evaluated an intervention for anxious students ages 5-12 called CALM that empowers school nurses to take an active role in identifying and relieving student stress. Researchers found almost 60 percent of the students who participated in CALM reported lower anxiety and fewer physical symptoms of stress three months after the intervention ended.
