Mental Health Awareness: Helping Others and Promoting Safe Spaces

Nearly one in five children in the United States show symptoms of a mental health disorder, yet 80% of them will not receive treatment. This valuable collection, curated by our Share My Lesson team, provides tools, resources, lesson plans and activities that cover stress, healthy eating, coronavirus school closures, cyber-wellness and more.

There are different ways to estimate which children have difficulties with mental health. The CDC uses surveys, like the National Survey of Children’s Health, to understand which children have diagnosed mental disorders and whether they received treatment.

In addition to more access to resources and professionals in schools, we hope everyone involved in education and the struggle for mental health awareness will consider incorporating mental health awareness topics into existing curriculum with these resources.
