About This Lesson

Japanese expansion into the Pacific and the Bataan Death March. It then moves on to discuss the dropping of the atomic bombs, with a link embedded in the ppt of a memoir of a Japanese girl who survived the atomic blast. This presentation goes well with a class debate over whether or not using the atomic bombs was justified (I had my students write on a piece of paper at the beginning of class if they thought we were justified in using the bombs, and then had them revisit their answer at the end to see if their opinion changed).
