About This Lesson

Click here for a BRAND NEW eLearning video EVERY Sunday evening!

This is a lesson on how a cactus survives with very little water in the desert. The lesson includes a science experiment, which teaches about cacti adaptations. Cacti have a waxy covering that keeps moisture from evaporating in the desert air. This is how they survive in the desert! The at home experiment is easy for kids to do and requires materials that you probably already have around your house!

This is absolutely perfect as a first time experiment lesson for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. Ideal review lesson for upper grade levels (3-5).

Created by a teacher, designed for elementary students, and fun for all ages. Elementary School Lesson.
