About This Lesson
English language is full of irregular verbs, and first-grade students—EL’s in particular—need to be specifically taught what they are and how to use them. This is a progressive year-long lesson that meets CCSS 1.CSE.1e: “Use verbs to convey a sense of past, present, and future.” It is also fundamental for narrative writing (CCSS 1.TTP.3), because any time you tell a story about something that already happened, you need to use past tense verbs.
