Rock Your World: A Project-Based Approach to Global Citizenship

About This Webinar

Join Rock Your World, Kindred Spirits and Share My Lesson for an exciting webinar on global citizenship.

Interested in helping your middle and high school students navigate relevant issues in today’s world? This workshop will provide you with training on the Rock Your World human rights based curriculum. Flexible, free, and fully-aligned with Common Core Standards, Rock Your World inspires global citizenship while developing 21st century skills. An innovative, project-based middle / high school curriculum, Rock Your World inspires students to ask bold questions about the challenges they see in their neighborhoods, communities and the world around them and then engages them in the development of advocacy campaigns designed to overcome those challenges.

Starting with a basic understanding of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the program engages students in a variety of research techniques designed to help them become aware and informed about an issue of their choice. Next, students study tactics and techniques employed by successful campaigns and then create and pitch their own advocacy campaigns via one or more of the creative outlets of their choice: making films, writing persuasively or writing songs.

Professional Credit

Available for one-hour of PD credit. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of your session that you can submit for your school's or district's approval.

Share My Lesson is now a New York State Education Department-approved provider for Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) requirements and an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approved Professional Development provider.
