About This Lesson

This is a second grade Math Unit, Lesson 11 out of 15. Reasoning with Shapes and their Attributes - Finding the Missing Space. In this lesson, students make use of skills from 2.G.2 but do so with added complexity. They pay attention to rows and columns of squares, learned from the previous lesson, but must also model a missing number of same-size squares by using a number sentence. Aligned to Common Core State Standards: 2.G.2 , 2.OA.4 , MP.4 , MP.5
