It is based on the research of Marzano, 2007; Hamre & Pianta, 2006; Spiegel, 2012 and is reprinted from my books, Tools for Teaching Conceptual Understanding, 2017.

These action steps are well-written and very doable. However, the photo used with this article is very inappropriate, especially for secondary students. It shows an appropriate hug from a parent but definitely not a teacher. And considering the title of the article, it is even more inappropriate.
