About This Lesson

AI can sound right and still be wrong. In this standalone 50–60 minute lesson, students examine viral claims, AI hallucinations, deepfakes, and visual glitches. They then practice lateral reading and the Rule of Three to fact-check AI-generated paragraphs about Apollo 11 and the Golden Gate Bridge. Students leave with a habit, not a one-time skill: slow down, leave the page, and confirm before trusting or sharing. Includes a slide deck plus scaffolded and general lateral reading practice sheets. Explore the full, free PreK–12 curriculum at dayofai.org.
