About This Lesson
This unit lesson plan is meant to be used at the beginning of a ninth grade Algebra I classroom setting. The unit spans over a two-week time where the school utilizes a “block schedule” where each specific class is in the class for four days a week. The two-hour class lesson plan is meant to be used on the block period for the class. The unit begins with a review of integer addition, subtraction, multiplication and division spanning over two days of the eight-day unit. The next three days of the unit plan focuses on the “building blocks” and fundamentals of functions before day six where the class will be formally introduced to Mathematical functions. The final two days of the unit focuses on properties that come with working with functions; Domain/ Range and Discrete/ Continuous Graphs as well as Function Notation and Recognizing Function Families.
