About This Lesson
A step-by-step fetal pig dissection that students follow on a free 3D model of the body: the outside of the pig and how to tell its sex, the mouth, opening the body, and the organs of the abdomen, chest, neck and urinary system. Each step lights its organs on the 3D body, and the guide explains how a pig differs from a human (the spiral colon, no appendix, the lung lobes, the fetal circulation). Use it as a pre-lab, a make-up lab, or an alternative assignment for a student who chooses not to dissect; it ends with a short quiz. The attached PDF is a printable student handout of the steps, with space to record what they find.
