This lesson is part of a unit on volume. Students have completed prior work on volume concepts and volume formula and have established a link between counting unit cubes, multiplication and using a formula for volume calculation. In this lesson the students are working on applying the knowledge to real world and more complex mathematical problems. Aligned to CCSS: 5.MD.4, 5.MD.5

Standards

Measure volumes by counting unit cubes, using cubic cm, cubic in, cubic ft, and improvised units.
Relate volume to the operations of multiplication and addition and solve real world and mathematical problems involving volume.
