About This Lesson

Storytelling is a powerful way to shift mindsets. Writing and sharing stories about how young people are leading change is a powerful tool to inspire other young people to do the same.

The Changemaker Story Series is a collection of four stories about young people leading change in their communities. They are concise, creative and inspiring.

Educators can host a month-long changemaker storytelling challenge and read one story per week with their students. Each story includes a narrative and video, discussion questions, and a changemaker challenge to encourage your students to engage with issues in their own community.

  • Ara Kusuma - runs a tourism initiative that connects young people to local social entrepreneurs and changemakers.
  • Joshua Williams - is igniting a movement of young changemakers to support people experiencing homelessness and poverty through the Joshua's Heart Foundation.
  • Peyton Klein - is the founder of the Global Minds Initiative, an organization focused on inclusion and cultural understanding.
