About This Lesson

Explore the ancient life of a wealthy woman who lived in Egypt when the land was part of the Roman Empire. Learn about a mummy portrait, created in 100 CE, of a woman identified on the portrait as Isidora. Visually analyze a work of art, create a self-portrait inspired by this work of art, and compare mummy portraits made at different times. This learning guide includes related artwork information, vocabulary, related audio, and connections to Common Core standards.
